Today was one for the books. When I got to my office this morning, it wasn’t even snowing yet. I jumped on the Sterling Lift right after 8:30 this morning, and there were already 2 to 3 inches of new snow. The forecast was calling for 2 to 4 inches of snow, mainly in the morning hours, but it never stopped all day! You could keep doing the same trail and still keep getting fresh turns. When you are skiing, and there is no sound, it is absolutely heavenly! We ended up with 8 inches of new snow today bringing our total of the week to 27 inches! Lower Rumrunner is open tomorrow, along with Poacher’s Woods. We also opened Powder Keg and Pirate’s Plank. Not only we received a great deal of natural snow today, and we are presently making snow on Black Snake, Practice Slope, Sir Henry’s, and the Magic Learning Trail. A cold front rushed in today with the snowstorm, which is great for snowmaking. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for sunny skies early with increasing clouds later in the day, a high of 15 degrees at the base and 10 degrees at higher elevations. Bundle up and enjoy the wonderful conditions! Tomorrow we plan to have the Sterling Lift operating with 23 trails open for intermediates and experts only at this time. Surface conditions are powder and packed powder with average base depths of 16 to 40 inches. 7 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Smugglers’ Alley and Thomke’s for a total of 35 acres of freshly groomed terrain.
