Currently, it is sunny and -3 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 0 to 5 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies with a high of 15 degrees at the base and 10 degrees at higher elevations. Wear an extra layer, take breaks, and enjoy the fabulous conditions. We received 21 inches of new snow in the past week and 84 inches this season so far! We started receiving snow at the start of November, and it has not let up! Lower Rumrunner is now open, along with Poacher’s Wood. Today, we have the Sterling Lift operating with 23 trails open for experts and intermediates only at this time. We plan to have beginner terrain open starting Friday, December 12th. We are presently making snow on Sir Henry’s, Black Snake, the Practice Slope, and the Magic Learning Trail. This weather is ideal for snowmaking! 7 trails have been groomed for today, including Smugglers’ Alley and Thomke’s. Surface conditions are packed powder and powder with average base depths of 16 to 40 inches.
